Menthol cigarettes to be banned

Menthol cigarettes are to be banned from sale in the UK from May 2020.

This includes cigarettes, slim cigarettes and flavoured tobacco.

The ban of menthol cigarettes and tobacco is to try to prevent young people from starting smoking.

It will also help current smokers who smoke menthol cigarettes to quit as the taste of the original tobacco cigarettes can be quite off-putting.

This may be hard for a lot of current smokers to adjust to.

This is a contravertial move by the UK government however and will likely increase further attempts to smuggle cigarettes in from other countries.
